Biography
A life in pictures
Steven Fazekas is an American film producer, screenwriter, director, and creative executive whose career has moved from USC Film School to the center of the studio system, independent production, and international media.
The beginning
An award-winning short opened the first door.
At USC Film School, Steven wrote and directed several short films, including Golden Age, which received multiple honors, among them a CINE Golden Eagle Award. His early work caught the attention of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas and began relationships and collaborations that helped define the direction of his career. He worked with Spielberg as a co-producer on Raiders of the Lost Ark. He also served as co-producer on Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. He worked with producer Howard Kazanjian on both projects.
George Lucas introduced Steven to producer Howard Kazanjian. That connection grew into a longtime professional relationship. As President and Partner of Magic Lantern Productions, Steven worked with Kazanjian in a producing deal at Universal Studios to develop and advance feature projects. Director Randal Kleiser gave him his first film-industry opportunity on Summer Lovers after seeing Golden Age. Steven produced and directed the film's making-of program for HBO and Showtime and played the supporting role of Bob in the film.
Inside the studios
Learning how stories move from an idea to the screen.
Steven went on to hold creative and production leadership roles across Universal, Disney, and Warner Bros. At Disney, as Vice President of Production, he developed and produced two-hour films for the Disney Sunday Night Movie, including the Emmy-nominated The Christmas Star and Sunday Drive, starring Carrie Fisher.
As President of Robert Shapiro Productions at Warner Bros., he developed and sold more than 20 projects and supervised films including There Goes My Baby, Black Beauty, and Jekyll & Ms. Hyde. He served as producer on the landmark action film Demolition Man, starring Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes, and Sandra Bullock.
The wider lens
A career built beyond one studio—or one country.
In late 2024, Steven Fazekas traveled to Thailand to serve as a consultant on the first season of Alien: Earth, which premiered in 2025. He spent two years based in Thailand, working on international projects, before returning to Los Angeles in September 2026 to continue his work in film, television, and management.
Steven’s work also spans national commercials, international reporting, photography, and independent entrepreneurship. He produced and directed commercials for Sears, McDonald's, and United Airlines; worked as an on-camera foreign correspondent in Ukraine, Russia, Thailand, and Colombia; photographed stories around the world for ZUMA Press; and worked as a news reporter and on-air broadcaster at KPCW, an NPR affiliate in Park City, Utah.
He expanded his reporting and on-camera craft through broadcast journalism studies at UCLA from 2016 to 2017. Beyond entertainment, his long-term leadership of Fazekas Properties has added commercial judgment and an owner's perspective to his creative development work.
Based in Los Angeles, Steven brings longstanding Hollywood relationships together with an international outlook shaped by years of creative and media work around the world.
